President of the foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat

Le 14 février 2020, le Conseil d’Administration de la Fondation pour la Sauvegarde du Patrimoine Culturel de Rabat, présidé par Son Altesse Royale la Princesse Lalla Hasnaa, arrêtait un plan d’action très riche offrant aux acteurs du patrimoine culturel – institutionnels, société civile et experts – de multiples opportunités d’échanger les visions et de partager les savoirs. La volonté première de la Fondation étant de conjuguer la préservation du patrimoine culturel non au passé, mais au futur et toujours au pluriel.

THE FOUNDATION FOR THE SAFEGUARDING OF CULTURAL HERITAGE OF RABAT HOLDS ITS 2022-2023 ANNUAL “DISCOVERING MY HERITAGE” AWARDS CEREMONY

The Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, held its 2022-2023 annual “Discovering my heritage” awards ceremony this Wednesday, October 04, 2023, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, UNESCO, and in collaboration with the National Institute of Agronomic Research.

The 4000-plus attendees were presented with certificates for taking part in the program.  Teachers, principals, monitoring committees and heritage professionals received awards and certificates of appreciation and encouragement.

The ceremony, held at the Mohammed V National Theatre, brought together over 700 program participants for a packed evening showcasing young people’s artistic productions on the subject of heritage through drama, poetry and visual arts, thereby underscoring the vital importance of heritage in artistic and cultural education.

The young people of Rabat delivered a message of hope and solidarity to the schoolchildren of areas impacted by the Al Haouz earthquake, with a live broadcast of the “بلسم تراثي” poem.

“Drawing my heritage” 2022-2023 featured an updated Educational Kit, new itineraries, and exhibitions and heritage site visits, as well as participation in SIEL, the Rabat International Book Fair.

63 secondary schools from Rabat, Salé and Temara took part in the program, with 4,825 students and 68 teachers involved.  Teachers were trained on cultural heritage skills and knowledge and Kit utilization.

The program seekss to raise awareness among schoolchildren and educators of the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage, and builds on artistic and cultural education approaches that put heritage at the heart of educational and pedagogical processes.
