The Foundation for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Rabat, presided by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, participated in the second edition of the Moroccan Forum for Cultural and Creative Industries, held in Rabat from December 4 to 8, 2024. The Foundation’s speech highlighted its heritage awareness programs, particularly the “Podcast” and “Digitization of Heritage” initiatives, which aim to facilitate access to heritage, raise awareness of its significance, and emphasize the need for its preservation.
At the roundtable discussion titled “Reinventing Local Heritage,” the Foundation shared its experience in creating podcasts targeting a broad audience, including young people and teenagers. It spotlighted its program “From Father to Son,” where students under 16 were the central figures of the first season, focused on the theme of Tbourida. The Foundation also demonstrated how such creative projects empower youth, providing them with training and support to help them identify, write, and tell their stories through audio recordings.
During the event, the Foundation presented its experience with the Digitization of Heritage program. It has digitized significant sites such as the Qasba of the Oudaïa and Fort Rottembourg, using scanning and digital immersion technologies. This program aims to promote the digitization of cultural heritage and develop digital platforms for the public, institutions, academics, and researchers, thereby improving access to heritage. Additionally, the Foundation has developed various educational tools, such as virtual tours and explanatory videos, to enhance cultural mediation and preserve collective memory.
