The Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat held the award ceremony for the “Discovering My Heritage” educational program on July 07, 2022. The program was developed in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and UNESCO.
Sixty-two middle schools attended the ceremony where students and teachers were awarded prizes for the quality of their contribution and commitment to the program.
The “Discovering My Heritage” program enabled over 3700 students to explore Rabat’s cultural heritage through an educational kit, made available to teachers, consisting of research activities, talks, visual sessions and visits to world heritage sites in Rabat.
“Discovering My Heritage” stems from a vision focusing on active commitment by all stakeholders to facilitate access to heritage. The program started by developing the UNESCO educational kit and adapting it to local cultural heritage in its many representations spanning architecture, urbanism and nature, and introducing elements of modern heritage and world heritage. Contextualizing the kit to the city of Rabat and the kit’s educational scope are essential tools for strengthening the place of culture in educational processes.
